1. What this policy covers
This policy describes the Sutrah iPhone app, this website and support or creator emails you choose to send to the developer. The app’s local storage is different from the requests needed to load a website or use an external service.
Sutrah does not run an app account system, an app analytics service, an advertising SDK or a developer-operated app-data server. The app does use Apple services and streams Quran audio when requested. It is therefore not accurate to describe every feature as offline or to say that no request ever leaves your phone.
2. Information stored in the app
Sutrah stores its settings in local app storage and an App Group shared with its own extensions. This lets the prayer schedules, shields, widgets and app use the same settings. Information stored locally can include:
- The optional name you enter for Sutrah’s greetings.
- Apple Screen Time selection tokens for the apps and categories you choose.
- Your saved latitude, longitude and city, prayer settings, notification preferences and focus settings.
- Quran reading position and preferences, reading progress, prayer tracking, streaks and session events.
- Your own dua notes, khatm plan and other saved worship preferences.
- The accountability partner name and phone number you choose.
- A Pro entitlement flag derived from your App Store purchases.
Sutrah does not upload these app records to a developer-operated server. You can choose to share a progress card, invite, message or other content using iOS sharing; that content then goes to the recipient or service you select.
3. Screen Time and app selection
Sutrah uses Apple’s Family Controls, Managed Settings and Device Activity frameworks with individual authorization for your own device. iOS asks for permission before it applies shields to selected apps or categories.
The selection is stored as Apple’s opaque tokens. Sutrah does not use a Device Activity usage-report extension or receive a history of your activity inside other apps. Apple’s system picker and system views control how selected apps are displayed. The selection is not sent to the developer.
You can manage Sutrah’s access in iPhone Settings → Screen Time → Apps with Screen Time Access.
4. Location, city lookup and maps
When you choose “Use my location,” Sutrah requests a location fix and saves coordinates for prayer calculations and Qibla direction. It does not continuously track your travels or use background location tracking. Update your saved city or location when you travel.
Sutrah uses Apple’s geocoding service to name a location or look up a typed city. The coordinate or search text needed for that lookup goes to Apple. Map views, nearby mosque or halal-place searches, and any Maps directions you open also use Apple services. These requests are covered by Apple’s privacy policy.
You can deny device location access and type a city instead. The city lookup still needs connectivity; prayer calculations for saved coordinates run locally.
5. Quran text and recitation
The Quran’s Arabic text, transliteration and included translations are bundled in the app. Reading this text does not require a network request.
When you play a recitation, Sutrah fetches verse audio over HTTPS from Islamic Network at cdn.islamic.network. The audio URL identifies the selected reciter and verse. Sutrah does not add your name, saved location, app-selection tokens or an app account identifier to that URL.
Like other internet requests, audio delivery exposes network information such as an IP address to the provider. Its handling of requests is separate from Sutrah’s local app storage. Recitation needs an internet connection.
6. Purchases and notifications
Apple handles Sutrah Pro payments through the App Store. StoreKit provides entitlement information to the app, which uses it to unlock Pro. Sutrah does not ask for your payment card, Apple Account password or verification codes. Apple’s purchase processing is governed by its own policies.
Adhan and other app reminders use local notifications scheduled on your device. Sutrah has no developer-operated push-notification server. On supported iOS versions, the Fajr alarm uses Apple’s AlarmKit with its own system permission; otherwise it uses notification scheduling.
7. Contacts and messages
If you choose an accountability partner, Apple’s contact picker supplies the contact you select. Sutrah saves that name and phone number locally for message preparation; it does not upload your address book.
A partner message opens in Apple’s Messages composer. You review it and tap Send yourself. Sutrah cannot send these messages silently. A message you send is then handled by Apple, your carrier and the recipient as applicable.
8. Visiting this website
Your browser requests the website’s public pages, images, fonts and scripts from its hosting and delivery services. Those services receive request information needed to deliver the site, which can include your IP address, requested URL, browser information and security or delivery logs.
This site does not include an advertising tracker or an audience analytics script. It may save a motion preference in your browser so your animation choice is remembered. That preference is not a profile or a creator application.
The creator form prepares a draft locally in your browser. It does not submit your form entries to a website backend or save them as an application record. You see the text before choosing to open it in your email app. Preparing the draft does not send email.
Links to the App Store, Apple Support, social platforms or other external sites take you to services with their own privacy practices.
9. Emails you choose to send
If you email support or the creator community, the developer receives your email address, message and any attachments or profile/video links you include. This correspondence is used to answer your request, investigate the issue you describe or discuss your creator interest. It is handled through the email provider used for that correspondence.
Please send only information needed for your request. Do not send passwords, verification codes, government identifiers or payment details. If you want us to address information in a previous email, contact us at the address below.
10. Your choices
You can change saved app settings, remove a chosen accountability partner, manage notification, alarm, location and Screen Time permissions in iOS, and choose whether to share content or send a message.
Deleting Sutrah removes its installed local app data. It does not cancel an App Store subscription, delete Apple’s purchase history, remove messages already sent or delete correspondence from an email service. iOS backups and external-service records are controlled separately through their respective services.
Sutrah is an individual focus app; it is not a service for remotely managing another person’s phone.
11. Changes and contact
We will update this page when the app or website’s data practices change. The date above identifies the latest revision.
